MYSA Opening Day

MYSA OPENING DAY!! from Carrie Burley

Good Evening Marina Soccer Family,

I first want to say a huge thank you to our families for their patience and understanding while we worked hard to get players placed, coaches ready, uniforms picked up and delivered and all of the things ready for this weekend. I have to say, it has been amazing to watch our players back out on the field. I hope that everyone enjoyed their first week of practice!

A huge thank you to the coaches who volunteer their time to make this soccer season possible.

And… to the Marina Youth Soccer Board to dedicate their time to making sure that we have a soccer season!

It is that time, OPENING DAY is this Saturday August 28th. The ceremony will start promptly at 9AM, I highly recommend getting there early (8:30-8:45). Parking is going to be limited! I am posting a map on the facebook page for those unfamiliar with the area. I circled the three main locations to park; Los Arboles Middle School staff parking, Teen Center, Upper Los Arboles Softball field and the St Jude Church parking lot. The streets will also have some space but I highly recommend carpooling and/or planning to walk a bit. PLEASE BE MINDFUL AND RESPECTFUL TO ALL, and DRIVE SAFE, THERE WILL BE KIDS EVERYWHERE!

ALSO, NEVER park on the Los Arboles field, that is reserved for our sponsors, U12-U18 coaches and Board Members.

Please bring your player to their coach on the field, there will be signs for each coach on the right half of the field (facing the school, the coach will then guide the players on a little jog around the field ending on the left side of the field. After they complete their lap, we will get them their breakfast bag (we are sad that we don’t have our pancake breakfast this year, but we improvised for the time being so all players and coaches get a breakfast bag). After all players are done walking around the field we will start dismissing teams in order of games, please help us get coaches, refs, and players to their games safely and wait until those groups have left.

Please be respectful of the fields! Make sure that we are leaving the fields nicer than when we arrived, please make sure that you are cleaning up your trash and taking all belongings with you.

There is NO Snack Bar this year, we do have a few venders coming to sell food and I will send out a schedule next week. For OPENING DAY, KONA ICE will be at Marina Vista from 10AM -12PM and then at Los Arboles from 12PM – 2PM. Please feel free to bring other snacks and beverages if you wish.
Games start at 11 for both the Marina Vista field and the Los Arboles field. Remember U6, U8 and U10 games are at Marina Vista, ALL U12, U14 and U18 games are at Los Arboles.

COVID safety measures, please make sure that we are all doing our part, keep players and families home when they are sick, we urge people to wear masks where there are a lot of people in close proximity and for the players on the bench to wear masks. There is ZERO TOLERANCE for anyone bullying or taunting anyone regardless of their personal COVID protocols.

I know that there are some sizing issues with the uniforms and we are doing our best to fix these issues. Unfortunately, much of it is out of our hands and the unfortunate result of COVID and delay on product.

Thank you all,
We can’t wait to see everyone!
